One of the key elements involved in the creation of the IWLCA Experience was the desire to bring the game of lacrosse to local communities across the country and grow it amongst young girls by providing an opportunity for elite level coaching in a positive environment. We are aware that lacrosse innately has a barrier to entry due to the cost of equipment, travel and competitive/training events, and because of this the IWLCA is looking to help address those barriers head on.
The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), a 510(c)3 nonprofit, has created Grow The Game Scholarships aimed at providing financial support to young women of color looking to improve their lacrosse game at one of the 2021 IWLCA Experience Clinics.
These new IWLCA scholarships are designed to provide more learning opportunities for female players of color and increase diversity in the game of women’s lacrosse. Each scholarship will cover the registration cost of IWLCA Experience attendance – $175 and is open to young women of color in the high school graduating classes of 2022-2025. Scholarships do not include travel expenses or lodging.
